Chanterelle Mushrooms are a delight from the woods in mid summer.
You never know what you'll find in the woods. I found all four within about a hundred yards...I wonder where the other halves are?
Logs have their own story to tell. Were they growing fast? slow? Are they full of stain or mineral? Did they grow consistently or did the rate of growth change over time? Are there scars from fire or other things? It's important to learn the story on every site.
One of the perks of being in the woods all year round is having an opportunity to see all of Mother Nature's beauty in its time and place. This is a beautiful Red Trillium, one of the first blooms in the spring.
